Last Saturday the Mississippi Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church hosted an Evangelism Summit at Christ Church in Jackson. Bishop Robert Schnase of the Missouri Annual Conference led clergy & laity through 5 practices toward fruitful congregations. They are:

Radical Hospitality
Passionate Worship
Risk-Taking Mission
Intentional Faith Development
Extravagant Generosity

Perhaps it's redundant to say so, but the best way to describe these practices is PRACTICAL! No matter how large or small the congregation, Bishop Schnase's approach to congregational development brings out the best in all churches. For more information, visit The Five Practices Website.

Bishop Schnase does not promise a quick-fix formula for today's churches, but these practices guide us towards fulfilling Jesus' command to bear fruit. John 15:1-2 reads "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.... Every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”

Let us work together in God's garden! Easter grace to each of you....
