Pancakes & Prayer

Who knew that pancakes and prayer could come into conflict?

CNN reports that the International House of Pancakes is suing a Kansas City-based ministry known as the International House of Prayer for using their logo.

Obviously, there are a number of responses to this lawsuit on the web, but Relevant magazine makes a unique suggestion:

While the magazine's response has a dose of humor, the local church may glean evangelism from it. The idea of feeding spiritual needs (prayer) along with physical needs (food) is not a modern development. Events involving food abound in many congregations. But such events are often more about the fellowship of the church members than opportunities to extend hospitality to those who search for a church. In John 21:12, the resurrected Christ invites his disciples to eat breakfast with him. How might a local congregation follow in those steps to provide the most important meal of the day with the most vital spiritual truth? How might pancakes & prayer get along rather than conflict?

grace, pancakes, and prayer to each of you,
Pastor Darian
